Discount Glass was contracted by FGC to value engineer, supply, fabricate and install all exterior glass and entrances in the brand new Holiday Inn Express & Suites at the Town Center in Jacksonville, Florida. This 109 bedroom facility truly shows the new modern and updated look IHG is is showcasing with its many brands of hotels. Discount Glass and crew worked alongside FGC and ownership to use the Coral Industries Series FL300 aluminum storefront material and swinging doors. This high-quality frame design allows for great ease-of-use and has moisture control with water runoff being of the most important feature of the design. The glass used in this project is 1" thick insulated tempered units with Solarban 60 Grey tinted glass which meets and exceeds all Florida solar efficiency requirements as of 2014/2017. Down Corning 790 was used for all installation sealants and waterproofing.
We have learned that the key to successful and quality installations on larger projects is communication and awareness of other trades timelines and trade specific requirements. A team member of Discount Glass was onsite for all trades meetings for many months before our actual installation timeframe to be able to work with framers, plumbers, FF&E and all trades to ensure a quality surface was ready for our frames as well as for the benefit of time management. This allowed us to have these units installed and completed nearly three weeks before our slated deadline. We enjoyed our partnership with FGC and ownership and are looking forward to building the next one.
